Dear Families, It's another rainy Friday here in Nottawa.  Luckily, we were able to get outside for one of the fitness breaks :)  Can you believe in less than a week, we'll be into the month of May?  It felt like April zipped by!  As always, lots of learning happening in our classroom.  Check below, see for yourself :)   Enjoy another weekend with your loved ones!  I'm looking forward to this :) My boyfriend Dan and his adorable nephew Antonio! Character Recognition Assembly: Today during period 5, we had an assembly to celebrate all the students who have demonstrated  OPTIMISM - "We believe we can do it!"   Congratulations to Connor, Darcie and Shasta for always believing in themselves and their abilities to persevere even through challenging tasks. Your determination and dedication to getting the job done is valued.  Well done! Thank you to ALL the staff and students who dressed up in NEON and BRIGHT colours today!  Always let your LIGHT

Dear Families, I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter with your family and friends!  As many are aware, it is Good Friday tomorrow (no school) and Easter Monday (no school), so students will be back to school on Tuesday.  Some have shared with me their favourite Easter traditions that they partake in with you. Enjoy these heartwarming activities with your child and I look forward to hearing all about them next week! Math: This week, I gave the students a very challenging math problem that required multi-steps.  See slide below.  The focus was to use the 4-Block Problem Solving Method to organize their thinking.  In grade 3, students are expected to multiply (up to 7x7) and divide (up to the 7x table) numbers using a variety of strategies.  They are becoming quite comfortable with this.    I have encouraged students to practice their times tables using mental math so these facts become automatic.  When I was younger, my brother and I had to practice multiplicat
