Dear Families,
Happy June everyone!  We've entered our final month of school!  I still can't believe how fast our year went! As they say, "time flies!"  It certainly has with this wonderful group of children.  Mrs. O and I chatted about how amazing our classes are.  We look forward to watching them continue to grow academically, socially, and behaviourally next year and beyond!  I'll always hold a special place in my heart for your child :)

We are really enjoying writing poetry!  Students have been given a poetry portfolio which they will be using to keep their creative pieces in.  They will be excited to share these with you at our Poetry Cafe.  We are planning to have it on Thurs. Jun. 20th @ 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Mark it down in your calendars everyone!  It's a special presentation that you won't want to miss as we will be celebrating not only poetry, but our successful  school year as a class family!

Father's Day Letters:
I have provided class time all week for everyone to work on their letters that we're preparing for all the special Dad' out there!  If students are not done them, they are encouraged to access their google drive account over the weekend to finish them up.  If your child wishes to have his or her letter printed out in colour, please do so at home as I do not have access to one at school.  If it's in black and white, I would be more than happy to print these using our photocopiers :)

A gentle reminder, please have a photograph of Dad brought to school in your child's agenda by Monday!  We will be preparing the cards next week!  Thank you so much for your support in this matter.

Blue Mountain Trip:
What a beautiful day we had for such a FUN and adventurous day of outdoor learning and exploring.  Thank you to our parent volunteers (Brayden's Mom and Connor's Mom) for coming along to support us throughout our day to experience a Gondola Ride, the Woodlot Low Ropes, and the Plunge to swim!  We couldn't have asked for a better day!  The pictures speak volumes as to how much FUN we truly had!  Check it out!

National Indigenous History Month:
I'm so excited and passionate to share about this!!  Did you know that June is National Indigenous History Month!?  It is an opportunity for First Nations and ALL Canadians to honour our heritage, our contributions, and our cultures across Canada.

Throughout the month, the assembly of First Nations will highlight some historic events and people who have contributed to our shared history and to the development of Canada.  #IHM2019

Each day as a class, we proudly and respectfully say the Pledge.  Ask your child to share it with you.  Many know it by heart :)  We will continue to learn about Indigenous, Metis, and First Nations culture and how they have made significant contributions to our bright and beautiful country!!

King's Wharf Theatre:
Next Wed., we will be going to watch a play!  Here at Nottawa we are fortunate to experience this each year :)  This trip experience never disappoints!  We are encouraging the children to wear their best clothes, do their hair and come prepared to see a live production :)  It should be a wonderful play of the Panto for Jack & Beanstalk!
